• How does Magellan spread the word about its Financial Aid Program?

  Aside from the communication to current Magellan families listed above, the Head of School talks about financial aid in every admissions information session for prospective families.

• How many students benefit from financial assistance?

  Approximately 15% of our student population receives financial aid support.

• How much Aid does Magellan extend on an annual basis?

  Magellan extends approximately $1.2 million in financial aid annually. This includes need-based tuition support (totalling approximately $1 million) and teacher discounts.

• What are other ways Magellan supports families with financial aid?

  Families that receive financial aid may also qualify for free or reduced prices on a wide range of services and programs including after school care, athletics, extracurricular activities, field trips, fall and spring break camps, the MYP international exchange program, school uniforms and yearbooks.

• What is the range of the percentage of assistance that Magellan extends to families?

  When making a financial aid award to those who qualify, Magellan awards anywhere from 10% - 100% tuition.

• What is the timeline for applying for financial aid?

  Magellan announces enrollment opening in January each year. Once enrollment goes live, the school sends out a link to all Magellan families. In order to receive priority registration, a family must submit their financial aid application by March 1st. Decisions for application received by the priority deadline will be announced by April 1st. Families who apply after the March 1st deadline will be considered for financial aid on a rolling basis as funding allows.

• What system does the school use for evaluating requests for financial aid?

  The school uses the Clarity app, a popular software for schools awarding financial aid. To apply for financial aid, families fill out an application and provide documentation for each school year. 

• Where does the money for Magellan’s financial aid program come from?

  Magellan’s financial aid program would not be possible without the generous support from our community. The two primary fundraising events that support our program are the Magellan Annual Fund and the Magellan Gala.
