MISPA Magellan International School Parent Association

If you're a Magellan parent, you are a member of MISPA! This group's primary role is to support Magellan's teachers and staff and to promote community via events and activities throughout the year.

Magellan is truly a tight-knit community and wouldn't be the same without our caring and involved parents and they are always looking for volunteers! There are all kinds of ways to donate your time from simple one or two hour tasks like helping sort uniforms for the Resale, to roles with a longer term commitment like serving on the Gala committee. We are grateful for any time you can spare and whatever your interest we will find the right fit for you. Volunteering is also a great way to build lasting friendships outside of your classroom or grade level.

Fiesta de Bienvenida

This "Welcome Party" is a social gathering for parents, faculty and staff held in September. The venue changes every year, but what remains the same is the wonderful opportunity this event provides to mingle with other parents and MIS teachers in a relaxed atmosphere.
Teacher Appreciation

MISPA shows teachers the love by providing yummy catered breakfast, lunches, and treats on Professional Development and other special days throughout the year.
Fundraising

MISPA raises funds in support of professional development for faculty and special project grants. Uniform Resales, the Gator Gear Spirit Shop, and Fall/Spring family photo sales are just a few of the ways this income is generated.
International Festival

Taking place in the fall, International Festival is a community-wide celebration of various international cultures in a fun carnival-like atmosphere featuring game booths, food, entertainment and prizes. Families are invited to set up booths representing their heritage, often with a culturally significant activity or a traditional dish to share. This event requires the efforts of everyone - staff, teachers and parents - and is fun for the whole family.
Gator Gear Spirit Shop

All kinds of branded Magellan gear is available for purchase through our online Spirit Shop. Most Fridays, students can pass up their daily uniform and participate in Spirit Day when they can wear their annual Spirit Shirt or anything Magellan.
Magellan Mates Facebook Group

Even if Facebook isn't your jam, we encourage you to join the Magellan Mates Facebook group. This private group for current Magellan parents only is the go to forum and is very active. It's regularly updated with school news and announcements and parent-to-parent engagement.
