Magellan International School is a Spanish immersion, International Baccalaureate (IB) school serving students from preschool through high school. We are one of the only secular, independent schools in the United States to offer the full IB continuum (PYP, MYP, and Diploma Program) in a bilingual setting.
Students begin Spanish immersion in early childhood, but entry points vary by grade level. Beginning in middle school, students may join without prior Spanish experience and receive support as they build proficiency.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a globally recognized academic program from preschool through high school that develops critical thinking, research skills, and real-world application of knowledge.
While many families are familiar with Advanced Placement (AP) courses, which allow students to take individual college-level classes, the IB Diploma Program (DP) offers a more comprehensive approach. Rather than focusing on standalone subjects, the DP connects learning across disciplines and emphasizes how knowledge is applied in real-world contexts.
Students in the IB Diploma Program:
Study six subject areas simultaneously
Conduct independent research through a year-long Extended Essay
Explore global issues and ethics in a course called Theory of Knowledge
Engage in creativity, activity, and service beyond the classroom
This approach helps students become strong writers, independent thinkers, and confident problem-solvers—skills that prepare them not just for college, but for success beyond it.
Magellan’s high school offers multiple pathways, including the IB Diploma Programme and the Global Impact Diploma, allowing students to pursue rigorous academics, real-world experiences, or a blend of both.

"My child's first two days have been so great on our end! I thought he might return home on Monday, maybe mentioning his old school, but he only came back raving about his day at Magellan! It went the same way yesterday. Ms. Mansi and the class couldn’t have been more welcoming, and he mentioned some friends’ names already so he is very happy and had a smile on his face at drop off again this morning. Ms. Mansi has given me positive feedback as well which has been encouraging."

"The staff at Magellan strives to understand each child as an individual with different emotional, physical and intellectual needs and that is #1 in our book. As far as academics go, we love that our son will be able to connect what he is learning in each of his subjects instead of having segregated classes that have nothing to do with each other. It just makes sense to do it that way! Bravo."
